'Watch the Gecko' is now deactivated. Broadcasters can reactivate their streams by logging into the system at least once every 30 days. If you are the broadcaster, log in and your stream will reactivate immediately.

Welcome to the Geckocam!
NEWS (02262008):So it's been over a year since I started this experiment and I'd like to know what you think. Whether it's your first time checking the cam out or whether you're a regular to the stream, I'd like to know what you have to say. After all this project started out as a look into human dynamics and I know that I personally have learned a lot of things about myself that I never knew before just by people writing in One viewer, for instance, pointed out that whenever I have yoghurt or pudding I flip my teaspoon upside down. I've personally found that the e-mails and such can get really interesting. :)
So yeah. Shoot me an e-mail and tell me what's on your mind. :)

If this is your first time checking in, here are a couple of things worthy of note:
You need the Windows Media Player plug-in to view the stream.
If the stream is offline, it only means that I'm either not home or have a guest or two over who have requested not to be on cam (some of my friends are camera-shy). If it's up and about and I'm not on the screen, then I'm definitely around somewhere and will be back in a matter of minutes (if not seconds). Oftentimes, I'll move the cam to wherever it is in the apartment I am (such as if I'm cleaning the bathroom or baking a cake), but it's a lot of work for me to do that if I'm just, say, getting a glass of water or something. :-P
My WiFi has a tendency to "jump," so if you're watching and it just suddenly stops mid-stream (and I haven't waved goodbye to the cam), chances are that's what happened. Give it a moment or two, then hit "refresh" on your browser and it should start again.
For the most part, I live my life on cam as I would without it. Occasionally I may speak to the camera or hold up a finger (or do something ridiculous)---this is typically just to prove to someone that the stream is live (or at least pseudo-live. A fifteen- to twenty-second delay is normal). :)
Lastly, send me an e-mail if you should be so inclined. I love hearing people's thoughts and what they have to say. And honestly, each thought is unique. It's pretty interesting to read about what goes on in people's minds as they watch the stream. Currently, I've received e-mails from:
- Australia
- Canada
- Nova Scotia
- Ontario
- Quebec
- England
- Isle of Wight
- Poole, Dorset
- Worthing
- Germany
- Greece
- Ireland
- Japan
- Kuwait
- Philippines
- Scotland
- Serbia
- USA
- Arizona
- California
- Florida
- Hawaii
- Indiana
- Iowa
- Kentucky
- Michigan
- Missouri
- New York
- New Jersey
- Ohio
- Oregon
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Washington
- Wisconsin

PS — If I'm on the phone or playing guitar or something and you'd rather turn the sound down (or if the sound of my A/C just irritates you), clicking on the stream activates volume controls. :)
